Daily Style: Tuesday, 3/20

neon yellow dress (Old Navy, $35)
black/white stripe jacket (Allen B. @ JCP, $40)
"Anna Bells Trolley" (Irregular Choice via Akira, $60)
black belt (MNG by Mango @ JCP, $15)

This past Sunday I met Phi Phi O'Hara from RuPaul's Drag Race, at my local Target. (So glamorous!) Well, I met the boy that is Phi Phi. Get it?

Anyway, I was super nervous because I consider anyone on TV a celebrity and get really nervous when I see them in person.  Also, I wasn't sure how to approach him.  I didn't want to ask "Are you Phi Phi O'Hara?" because if he wasn't, I would have just told him he looked like a woman.  I couldn't ask "Are you on RuPaul's Drag Race?"  That's like saying, "you look like a drag queen".  If he's not, that's a problem.  So, I went with "Are you on TV?"  Once I got confirmation, I told him she was one of my favorites.  I think he was surprised, "through all the bitchiness?"  She's the best from Chicago (IMO) and I got to represent.

Have you ever met any celebrities/people on TV?  Do you get nervous?

Anyone else watch RuPaul's Drag Race?  Who are your favorites?
Today I'm participating in Megan and Keely's Super Stripes Week.  For a list of participants, click the pic.

Daily Style: Thursday, 12/8

white lace dress (H&M, $30)
"grandpa" sweater (Mossimo @ Target, $18)
platform sandals ("Garren" by Blowfish via DSW, $35)
white tights (Merona @ Target, $8), socks (Target, $5), perfume vial necklace (Kamala's Perfumery)

How is it that I manage to get each dog in a picture, twice, in a row?

Is it bad that I bought most of this outfit last night?  I hope I don't regret the $18 spent on this "grandpa" sweater.  I'm not sure about this look, but I ran out of time (seems to be a running theme with me) so it is what it is.  This is my first attempt at sandals with tights/socks.

I think it's funny that grandpa sweaters are in.  I was wearing them about 15 years ago, but not with dresses, with grandpa pants and grandpa tops.  I was doing a lot of shopping in my grandpa's closet.

I'm counting this as participation in Megan Mae Daily & Casual Chic Kiki's Neutrals Week challenge because Megan said I could.  (You can't see my buttons, but I swear they're cognac!)  Click here for a list of participants who may actually be wearing cognac today!

Yesterday I got my Mini Moo cards from moo.com!  If you would like to place an order for yourself, I have a few coupon codes.  Email me at cheapandchicinchicago@gmail.com and I will send you one.

Daily Style: Wednesday, 12/7

brown skirt (Worthington @ JCP)
brown tank (Plato's Closet)
brown blazer (Worthington @ JCP, $12)
brown oxfords (Vince Camuto via Amazon.com, $39)
maroon tights (Simply Vera by Vera Wang @ Kohl's), gold wing necklace (Claire's, $6), ring (MNG by Mango @ JCP, $15), lip color (L'Oreal Infallible in Bold Bordeaux)

Last night, as I was waiting at a bar in the burbs for my train, the man sitting next to me struck up a conversation (groan, it was more like forced me into a conversation because I didn't want to be rude).  He was an older man and was talking about how he wanted to sing Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles at karaoke.  I said "go for it!", "why not?".  He said he wasn't sure.  What if it's not good?  I said, "who cares!" "It's karaoke, don't take it too seriously.".

Here's my philosophy (not just about karaoke):  Don't waste your life wishing you could do the things you want to do, but holding yourself back because you didn't want to experience a little discomfort.  If you want to go back to school (or go to school), do it.  If you want to sing a song at karaoke, do it.  If you want to make new friends, put yourself out there.  If you want to start a blog, do it!  What's the worst that can happen?  I know the saying is cliché, but it works.  Think about the worst outcome and the best, and compare the two.  Picture a cheesy sitcom wherein the characters use pebbles on a scale to weigh pros and cons.  (You know you've seen that before.)  Now, do that in your mind.

Here's another thought: Anything worth doing isn't easy.  (Or something to that effect.)

I'm pretty sure this is all the brown I own - in 1 outfit. I don't think I'll be participating in tomorrow's challenge: cognac, as Megan now owns the only piece of clothing I ever owned that was cognac (she got it at the clothing swap!).  ← shameless endorsement for clothing swaps

Today's look draws inspiration from Megan of Buffalo Hearts and probably a little Stevie Nicks.  The BF asked if I was going to the Renaissance Faire today.  I think his connection is the long skirt.  Men, they're such simple creatures, aren't they?
