Daily Style: Tuesday, 10/30

purple dress (Gap Outlet, $40)
grey/silver blazer (H&M, $24)
chrome belt (Kenneth Cole via PayHalf, $12)
tie-dye tights (JCP, $8)

I bought these tights as a throwback to my tie-dye wearing days, but then I got them and was clueless about how to style them. I almost wish they were crazy-bright tie-dye colors... which gives me the idea to just tie-dye my own damn tights. I smell a DIY...

(OK, someone already did this (obvi), and she also made a sweater (!))

Daily Style: Thursday, 8/16

flower print tank (Trina Turk, thrifted, $3)
pleated skirt (MNG by Mango @ JCP, $28)
grey cardi (Gap Outlet)
orange pumps (Call It Spring via JCP, $40)
This top was contemplated about for longer than necessary. At the end of the day, the decision was made based on the low price of $3. I've since worn it twice, coming out to $1.50 per wear.

It's funny how our standards change whilst thrifting. I went recently and found an Ann Taylor dress. It didn't fit that well on top of my dress, so I wasn't sure if it would fit better alone, with hose, etc., but since it was a massive $11, I left it. Anywhere else $11 would be a steal for an Ann Taylor dress, but instead it felt like a rip-off. It would have been mine for $3, ill-fit and all.

Daily Style: Saturday, 6/9

cut-offs (Xhileration @ Target, $13)
black tank (Gap Outlet)
coral blazer (east5th @ JCP, $22)
floral printed platforms (Decree @ JCP, $25)
gold necklace (Claire's), gold ring (MNG by Mango @ JCP, $15), gold bow ring (F21)
skull printed clutch (Loungefly, $gift)
Don't look @ my toenails, please!
Oy, I wore these new babies out for drinking on Saturday.  I fell out of them 3 times and eventually took them off and went barefoot.  A word to the wise - Practice walking in your new heels for a full day sober, before you decide to take them for a spin under the influence.

How was your weekend?!

Daily Style: Friday, 5/11

red shell (thrifted, $3)
jeggings (Gap Outlet, $40)
black faux leather jacket (Allen B. @ JCP, $20)
scarf (thrifted, $2.25)
"Dempsey" boots (DV by Dolce Vita via Akira, $45)
This is an outfit I typically wear (or, in this case, have worn) to a show. I don't normally do repeats, but I will admit I wore this to Gotye.  I will probably wear something very similar to Active Child.  Please give this a listen.  This song is ahh-mazing to me.  The video, however, is not so amazing.

Daily Style: Wednesday, 4/11

black cigarette pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
teal top (Bisou Bisou @ JCP, $20)
sheer floral jacket (Xhilaration @ Target, $18)
black patent pumps (Steve Madden Luxe, thrifted, $6)

The other night I suffered* through the New Now Next Award show, JUST so I could see Adam Lambert.  I'm not an American Idol fan, in the least, but I <heart> Adam Lambert.  His voice is amaze-balls and he's adorbs.  I want to be his hag.  C'mon, we have the same hair!  I went karaoke-ing this past weekend and attempted 'Whataya Want From Me?'  It wasn't entirely awful, but there's a ton of improv at the end and I don't know the song well enough.  Oh well, I've always wanted to try it, and now I have.

(* I love Kelly Osbourne, but she was awkward as a host.)

Daily Style: Thursday, 3/15

black cropped pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
white "boyfriend" shirt (H&M, $30)
white tank (free w/shirt)
gold booties (Seychelles via Amazon.com, $41)
gold/rhinestone necklace (Target, $5)
I love my new apartment, but I hate the lighting and the quality of picture I get.  Looks like I'm gonna have to muster up the courage to take pictures in the courtyard and have all my neighbors find out about me.

Daily Style: Friday, 3/9

jeggings (Gap Outlet, $40)
weird sweater (PayHalf, $10)
tank (Gap Outlet)
brown boots (Steve Madden via Amazon.com, $80)

I had a whole other outfit planned for today, but part of it wasn't clean.  Boo.  So I thought I would wear this warm sweater for [hopefully] the last time for awhile.  I heard it's supposed to warm up after today.  **fingers crossed**  I think everyone has about had it with winter.

Daily Style: Wednesday, 2/8

black cropped pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
white lace tunic (nicole by Nicole Miller @ JCP, $20)
teal v-neck cardigan (Merona @ Target, $9)
purple pumps (Irregular Choice via Nordstrom Rack, $60)
Inspiration:
I almost don't want to even address the latest gossip re: Karl Lagerfeld's statements about Adele, but I will say it's pretty clear to me that as a formerly "overweight" person himself, he's putting his insecurities onto her, as he feels threatened that she chooses to live her life without constant shame and disgust of her body.  Shame on him.  I've read that people are boycotting Chanel because of these comments.  Easy.  Count me in.  I've been "boycotting" Chanel my entire life.

Daily Style: Friday, 1/13

tiered striped top (Apostrophe @ Sears, $19)
jeggings (Gap Outlet, $40)
cropped denim jacket (Highway Jeans via PayHalf, $22)
black boots (Big Buddha "Casi", gift)

I made a delicious dinner last night.  Perhaps I will post the "recipe" on my other blog, Banoodles.  My whopping 2 followers might enjoy it.

Daily Style: Wednesday, 1/11

black cigarette pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
multi-colored tank (LOFT via Clothes Mentor, $8)
teal velvet blazer (Bloomingdale's, thrifted, $5)
pink pumps (Madden Girl "Sursey" via Plato's Closet, $12)
chainmaille necklace (made by me)

As you may remember, I take ballet.  I would like to present you with "Piper Alexander's Rules in Dancewear"  (This is mainly for the entertainment of those with which I take class.) -
  1. Stick w/black and pink only.  You may enjoy florescent yellow, but it doesn't belong in a dance studio.
  2. If you're well-endowed, wear a sports bra, in black.  If you're small-chested, you probably don't need a bra, as long as you're wearing a lined leotard.  If you feel you need something, make sure it's active-wear and again, stick with black.  Nude is fine, as long as it's not peeking out.  This is not the time to show off your pink and green polka-dotted PINK by VS bra.
  3. Skirts belong at your actual waist, not slung low on your hips.  If you need help finding your waist, it's usually the smallest part of your mid-section, near your belly-button.  You know, where old people wear their pants.
  4. If you're over 11 years old, get some split-sole shoes.  Trust me on this one.
  5. On the topic of shoes, for Pete's sake, tuck in your laces!  Better yet, get these and you won't have to worry about it.
  6. Tights over the leotard only work with black tights and you should have something on over the tights (skirt, shorts, etc.).  The crotch (a/k/a "gusset") of your tights does not need to be seen.
I think that about covers it.  Ballet Peeps, any additions?

(BTW, welcome to my new followers, and thanks to everyone for reading!)

Daily Style: Friday, 1/6

jeggings (Gap Outlet, $40)
beige bow tie neck top (MNG by Mango @ JCP, $33)
brocade jacket (Ann Taylor, thrifted, $5)
gold booties (Seychelles via Amazon.com, $41)

I'm not really feeling this outfit, but I wanted to wear my new (to me) brocade jacket, and show what my new camera can do once I got it a tripod.  So...

There are 2 days left to enter my DIY Giveaway!  Do it.

Daily Style: Saturday, 12/24

black cigarette pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
mock turtleneck knit top (Eddie Bauer, thrifted, $1.75)
black/white silk jacket (Banana Republic, thrifted, $5.50)
black leather shooties (Worthington @ JCP)
"Gatsby" bracelet (JewelMint, $12), vintage rhinestone bracelet (G'Ma's)

I hope y'all had a good holiday!  I spent the weekend with family.  My cousin just finished remodeling her closet which included built-in shoe shelves.  I think we all can agree that my full-blown obsession little problem with shoes must be a genetic disorder.

Daily Style: Thursday, 12/22

skinnies (Gap Outlet, $40)
print top (UK Style by French Connection @ Sears, $19)
beige sweater (Banana Republic, thrifted, $5)
brown boots (Steve Madden via Amazon.com, $80)
gold ring (MNG by Mango @ JCP, $15), Love that Binds bracelet (JewelMint, $12 with coupon code)

SSC shared this site, Fashion Bloggers, Why!?, on Facebook.  ("Like" C&C on Facebook with this link!)  It's pretty darn funny, if you're into satire.  ↑ This girl is.  Although, I'm afraid to comment, for fear of ending up on the site.  I know exactly how the post would go.  "Why is she always looking down?"  "Why is she not smiling?"  "She looks sad."  "Why is she pigeon-toed?"  "Why are her pictures blurry?"

The last one is soon to be no more.  Yesterday I purchased a fancy-schmancy camera, so as soon as I 1) receive it, 2) learn how to use it, 3) get the proper accessories for it, 4) find a good place to shoot 5) figure out lighting... (let's be honest, it may be awhile), my pictures are gonna blow your freakin' mind!

Anyway, I do agree with "Nati Hell" on the rapist glasses (her words, not mine).  Being truly visually impaired, I never understood why anyone would ever want to wear glass when you don't have to.  Especially glasses that engulf your face.

Daily Style: Friday, 12/16 & New Page Announcement

black cropped pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
black knit top (swapped, $free)
beige short-sleeved sweater (Banana Republic via Clothes Mentor)
black booties (Big Buddha "Donna" via Bakers)

Do you like my sweater?  It's now for sale in my new Shop page.  I will be adding more items very slowly.  This is something I've been thinking of doing for awhile now, so I hope it works out.  I have a bad habit of buying clothes, wearing them once, if ever, and then realizing I probably shouldn't have bought them in the first place.  This sweater is one of those pieces.  It's very nice, but I can't seem to make it work on my body and with the other items I own.  Hopefully, it will find a good home elsewhere.

Daily Style: Thursday, 11/17

white oxford shirt (Merona @ Target, Mom's, $free)
purple dress w/belt (Gap Outlet, $40)
black boots (a.n.a. @ JCP)
leaf fringe necklace (Decree, JCP, $6), leopard-print tights (Target), wrap bracelet ($gift)

Have you heard about Anthony Hardwick's petition to Target requesting they open at 5 AM on Black Friday instead of 12 AM?  Who wants to shop at midnight after all that turkey?!  Personally, I think Black Friday is stupid (sorry, being honest here) and the way people act about sales (similar to the Missoni hoopla) is shameful.  Kicking, punching, and trampling over people to get a good deal on a TV?!  It's not life or death, people.  Ridiculous.  I'm all for saving a buck, but not if it means physically hurting someone, or even, camping out in front of a store.  I feel bad for people that have to deal with these maniacs at all, but feel even worse for those that cannot enjoy their holiday because they have to be at work at 11 PM.  I would like to start a movement to boycott shopping entirely on Black Friday.  You with me?

Well, apparently this already exists.  (You mean I'm not as innovative as I had thought?)  Check it out by clicking the picture below.  In this case, I guess I'm joining this movement.  Who's with me?!

Hmmmm... Zombie walk? ... I could be up for that...

Daily Style: Tuesday, 11/15

black cigarette pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
pink button-up blouse (thrifted, $4)
red wool blazer (Evan Picone, thrifted, $2)
black pumps  (Simply Vera by Vera Wang @ Kohl's, $49)
silver-colored ring (Clothes Mentor, $5), chainmaille necklace (made by me), lipstick (L'Oreal Infallible in Ravishing Red)

Inspiration:

How'd I do?  Can you believe this blazer was only $2?!  I've received a ton of compliments on it and I want to respond by telling them what I paid for it.  Is that tacky?  Call me tacky then, I love bragging about my good deals.

Daily Style: Wednesday, 11/2

black cropped pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
white oxford (Merona @ Target)
bird print top (F21, $20)
blue patent pumps (City Streets @ JCP, $25)

I'm not feeling this look.  I've been incredibly tired & uninspired lately, so I apologize for that.

Daily Style: Monday, 10/17

grey cords (Gap Outlet)
button-front blouse (mng by Mango @ JCP, $29)
brown wrap belt (LOFT, $13)
pink pumps (Madden Girl "Sursey" via Plato's Closet, $12) similar

Today I'm participating in two birds' Inspiration Monday challenge.  Check out the post at two birds for the list of participants and links.  It's interesting to see how others draw on the inspiration photo.

Oh, yeah, and here's the photo -

Seeing as though I don't own a leopard print shirt, and only 2 pairs of cords, none of them being brown, I tried to make it a monochromatic look.  OK, tried is the operative word here.  Then I threw in some brown for good measure.

Daily Style: Friday, 9/30

black cigarette pants (Gap Outlet, $30) similar
black shell (thrifted, $4)
camel sweater (Mossimo @ Target, $30)
leopard booties (Dollhouse via Urbanog, $bday gift)
red coral necklace (Mimi's The Look, $18 w/Groupon)

I received part 1 of my bday presents last night and these booties were included.  These are the first leopard print shoes I've ever owned, I'm excited, but also unsure about how to style them.  Do you own any leopard print?  Do you feel that you can only wear certain colors with it?  I know red is an option, and I think jewel tones will work, I can't picture pastels working.  I have to admit, I'm very matchy-matchy.  I've never been able to pull off that un-matched look that others do so well.  On me, it just looks like I literally got dressed in the dark.

Daily Style: Thursday, 9/15

black cigarette pants (Gap Outlet, $30)
tiered striped top (Apostrophe @ Sears, $19) similar
cropped denim jacket (Highway Jeans via PayHalf, $22) similar
black pumps  (Simply Vera by Vera Wang @ Kohl's, $49)

I just heard about Nancy Upton's mockery of an American Apparel contest.  Read about it here.  Read about AA's response here.  So great!  This chick is the shit!

I went to my Target last night.  I walked around the entire store and only saw 1 Missoni item.  It was a little eerie, as if Missoni never happened.  It was all a dream.  There were just a few shreds of evidence left.

The last Missoni item remaining - a lone picture frame
The empty shoe display

I imagine this empty space is where the Missoni clothing was located, for an hour
The empty accessory display
I snapped the first picture when I arrived.  After a lap through the store, I went back to that location, and the frame was gone.  I'm not sure if someone bought it or it was put back with the home goods.

The whole Missoni Madness is funny to me.  I want to be surprised that people are acting like savage beasts for Target crap, but it's really not that shocking.  Disturbing?  Yes.  Definitely.
