You know any amount of time looking over comments on website articles or Facebook posts will make you think we live in a society not much unlike what was portrayed in the \classic\ movie, Idiocracy. Don't believe me? Here are some examples...

I wanted to point out that this review was not written by a child, but a woman between the ages of 30 and 39. In other words, a woman that should know to capitalize the 'I' and should have learned the difference between present and past tense and how to use each appropriately.

This snood was a gift from Goth Barbie, a fellow blogger (Military Fashion Show). You can snag one just like it, or similar, on her Etsy site. Her snoods are very versatile because they're reversible. The underside of this is mainly red with some specks of black. Next time I wear this, I'm probably going to wear it with fishnets, cause you know what they say? Double the fishnets, double the pleasure. (No one says that, btw.)

When planning this outfit, I knew I wanted to wear tights w/shorts, but I wasn't sure how to style them. I found a bunch of advice for curvy women suggesting loose-fitting, long shorts. I'm going to go ahead, on record, and state this is probably NOT the best look for those of us with curves. Actually, I don't think this would be a good look on any body type. Baggy shorts just sound like a bad idea.

On the topic of shorts length, there seems to be a thought that larger women should wear longer shorts, but I believe the length of your shorts depends more on your height than anything else. I'm 5' 3" so I won't be caught dead in long shorts; they cut me in half and make me look like I'm part of the Lollipop Guild. That was a long way of saying, screw advice you find on the internet (including mine) you must try different combinations and find something that works for you.

My Mommy has been bugging begging requesting a chance to be featured on Cheap & Chic (she does NOT live in Chicago, BTW), for awhile now.  Now that she's done the proper "Piper" pose, I suppose I can allow her entrance.  Here she is, folks!

This past Saturday was spent at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Kenosha, WI.  The day was filled with drunken debauchery, cheese fritters, and copious amounts of overspending.  Her outfit sure isn't Cheap (hardly anything there is), but I think it definitely qualifies as Chic.

 This is my attempt at "ethereal".  I was asked, "Why are you dressed like a ghost?"  Mission accomplished.  This is also one of those outfits that doesn't look as good in photographs as it does in person.  (In my opinion, anyway.)

I wore this to see Megan in her latest show, "Deliver Us From Nowhere: Tales from Nebraska".  I would recommend checking it out, but this was the last show [sad face].  The building where it was held had one of those old elevators - the really small ones with 2 gates - where you can see the floors as you're moving through them.  Pretty darn cool...

Chicago warmed up this weekend and my skin was not ready for it.  Holy sh*t, I am pale!  I cannot be held responsible for any blindness that may occur from the viewing of this post.

I've been waiting for a warm day to break out my new dress... with pockets!  (Didn't you know I'm obsessed?)  However, I wasn't thrilled with my styling.  I have a hard time with prints that don't contain black and I never remember that when I'm shopping.  I had to make this dress work though.  Um, hello?  Pockets!  Need I say more?

Happy Valentine's Day!  

I've always had a special place in my hate heart for V-Day.  When I was younger, it was a day I would dress in all black.  One year I made black roses (by letting white roses soak in black-ish water - they turned out more grey than black) and carried them around all day.  It was kinda my "thing".  Now that I'm older I don't enjoy V-Day any more, but I do enjoy wearing pink and red together and what a perfect day to do so!

You know the worst part about winter?  It's not the cold.  It's not the snow.  It's not that there's nothing good on TV...  It's the static cling.  It seems no matter how much Static Guard I use, my clothes still cling to my body, to other clothes I'm wearing, and crackle as I move them.  Why can't we come up with a product to get rid of static cling?  We can put a man on the moon, but we still have to deal with static-y clothes all winter long?

Today I'm able to participate in this month's Everybody, Everywear - Black+White challenge.  (It's a suprise to me, too.)  I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but I love, love, love black+white and I'm excited to seeing what everybody else brings to the table.

I hope everyone had a safe New Year's celebration.  I heard about this story yesterday.  My thoughts are with this teen girl and her family and I hope that the police can find her assailants, though I'm not expecting they will.  It seems I hear very few, if any, stories about the police charging anyone with crimes.  For instance, it would be nice to know why these 3 men were released.

SSC shared this site, Fashion Bloggers, Why!?, on Facebook.  ("Like" C&C on Facebook with this link!)  It's pretty darn funny, if you're into satire.  ↑ This girl is.  Although, I'm afraid to comment, for fear of ending up on the site.  I know exactly how the post would go.  "Why is she always looking down?"  "Why is she not smiling?"  "She looks sad."  "Why is she pigeon-toed?"  "Why are her pictures blurry?"

The last one is soon to be no more.  Yesterday I purchased a fancy-schmancy camera, so as soon as I 1) receive it, 2) learn how to use it, 3) get the proper accessories for it, 4) find a good place to shoot 5) figure out lighting... (let's be honest, it may be awhile), my pictures are gonna blow your freakin' mind!

Anyway, I do agree with "Nati Hell" on the rapist glasses (her words, not mine).  Being truly visually impaired, I never understood why anyone would ever want to wear glass when you don't have to.  Especially glasses that engulf your face.

Yesterday's LYBD post had me thinking all day about other things we can do everyday to love our bodies.  One of them is looking for the best in others and not making comments and judgments about others' bodies.  The less critical we are of others, the less we are of ourselves.

You may have seen the whales v. mermaids post floating around in Facebook-land, if you haven't two birds re-posted it here.  I saw it on Facebook and not surprisingly there were many nasty comments mixed in with the rest.  Of course these nasty, fat-hate comments were hidden under the guise of health concern. (*sigh* as per usual)

Let's get something straight, people, health and fat are not directly correlated.  Just like health and skinny are not directly correlated.  One can be healthy and fat just like one can be skinny, or appear fit, and be unhealthy.  Furthermore, genetics play a HUGE part in your health and your appearance.  That's not to say that you can't make choices that play a part in those things, but to a certain extent.

Even furthermore, why is a perfect stranger's health any of YOUR concern?!  And PLEASE don't bring up the cost of healthcare.  Maybe I'm uneducated on the matter, but it has never crossed my mind that I was ever paying for the health care of all other Americans, or any, for that matter.  (Oh, I'm sorry, are we just paying for the healthcare of the people that you've deemed "fat"?  You're positive they don't have health insurance?)  The last time I checked, if you need healthcare in America and you can't afford it, you're SOL, buddy.  If someone wants to live an unhealthy lifestyle, that's their choice!  They're not hurting anyone but themselves, so what's the big deal?!

What I'm getting at is we REALLY should butt out of people's business and their bodies.  No one deserves to have their body up for discussion and judgment.
