Art + Soul @ The Double Door, 11/17/12

The Art + Soul event was hosted by salon, Art & Science to benefit the National Association for Down Syndrome (NADS). This event was held at The Double Door in Chicago many Saturdays ago (I've been a slow blogger), and thanks to CBN, Chicago bloggers were invited to cover the event.
There was a fashion/hair show,

 a silent auction,
cool art (which may or may not have been part of the silent auction),

 great music,

food by The Goddess & Grocer ,

and a speech by Michelle, a recipient of support by NADS. She spoke of her hobbies and interests, including her love of fashion, and her many accomplishments.
She was truly an inspiration. You could see the impact she had on those in the audience, just by the look on their faces.
If you are interested in making a donation to NADS, you can do so here.

Topshop Spring Style Party with CS Magazine

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Topshop Spring Style Party with CS Magazine hosted by Très Awesome's Emma Arnold and the Amy Creyer of Amy Creyer's Chicago Street Style.  I have never been to Topshop, so it was a great opportunity to check out the store and rub elbows with some of Chicago's stylish.

First things first, I needed a drink.  Drinks were provided by Svedka (really good cheap vodka).  This guy was my favorite.  He made me a delicious cocktail with Svedka Clementine, Seagrams Ginger Ale, lime juice, and some other magic.
Then some light shopping. (Trying not to spend money!) I tried on a pair on sale, but they didn't fit. $30 saved!

Azeeza Desai Khan (designer) & Luis Torres (fashion blogger)
How gorgeous is this piece?  This is some of Azeeza's work.
...Random shots...
I like to take pictures of the photographers, let them have a chance to be on the other side for once!  Usually they give me dirty looks, but this guy was cool.
Photographer, Lorenzo Tassone
Towards the end of the night, I entered a contest to win $1K worth of Topshop.  Fingers crossed!
I really liked her look, so I asked if I could take a picture. She wasn't sure how to pose, so I instructed her on the proper fashion blogger stance - pigeon toed and contemplating your shoes.  How'd she do?

I had a great time, so thanks go to our hosts, CS Magazine, Topshop and especially Svedka!  Topshop is huge, it's easy to get lost in there.  It's a good thing they have employees directing you to the escalator to get back upstairs.

CBN Lara Miller Event, 1/23/12

Last night I had the pleasure of attending my first CBN Event at Lara Miller's studio in Wrigleyville.  Chicago bloggers were given the opportunity to style Lara Miller pieces and be the model, getting their picture taken by a pro!  I tried on a few pieces (this dress was so comfy), but I wanted to spend my time getting to know new people and playing with my camera, especially since I arrived about an hour late.  Here are some pics from the event:

I had a great time at this event last night, so thanks to Lara Miller for inviting us into your studio, CBN for setting everything up, and the stylists and photographer for making everyone look gorge!

(If I took pictures of you of which you would like copies, please email me at cheapandchicinchicago@gmail.com and I will send them along.)
