denim pencil skirt (Bisou Bisou @ JCP, $25)
black tank (H&M, $5)
sheer floral jacket (Xhilaration @ Target, $18)
teal heels (Just Fabulous, $40)
red coral necklace (Mimi's The Look, $18 w/Groupon), black stone ring (MNG by Mango @ JCP, $15)
Here's another way I wore this shear jacket, that I never got to show you.
This also might be a decent Lollapalooza get-up.

Anyone going to Lolla this year? I went a few years back, and that was the point at which I realized I am an old lady. It was too hot, the booze line was too long, my red wine was spilling all over the place as I tried to walk from one stage to the next (who orders red wine at a concert? ↑ this girl!)... I watched one band, then said f**k this, went home, ordered Chinese, and sat in the air conditioning. I used to enjoy outdoor concerts - Further Fest, Ozzfest, really anything at Alpine Valley... not anymore. Yep, I'm old. I've embraced it. Pretty soon I will be spending my Saturday nights watching Lawrence Welk with my TV dinner and turning in around 8 PM.

I have a very important issue to discuss.

You know that flap on the back of your skirt, dress or jacket?  It's called a kick-pleat.  Manufacturers usually sew this pleat together with a loose X.  The purchaser is supposed to cut this X.  Please do this, you will actually be able to move your legs in that pencil skirt.  Oh, and also, sometimes pockets are loosely sewn closed as well.  Feel free to leave those sewn or remove the stitching as you see fit.  The X on the kick-pleat, however, is not optional.

Thank you.

I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend!  Chicago has finally given into summer, yay!  It was pretty crappy all weekend, but yesterday was beautiful.  I'm hoping the temp doesn't drop again.

red belt (a.n.a. @ JCP)

I just bought this shirt last week; this is the first time I've worn it.  While ironing it this morning, I'm pretty sure I ruined it.  Ugh, I hate when I do that.  Have you ever destroyed an item before you can even wear it?  Any iron-mishaps?

This is my attempt at movement.

My BF told me I looked like an Eastern European woman today.  I'm still not sure what he meant.

This is the look I was trying to replicate -

American Apparel Accordion Pleat Skirt -  $62

I took "shopping your closet" to a whole other level.  I got this skirt last weekend when I decided to "shop my storage space".  My Mom and I have had a storage space for all our crap over the last 10 years or so.  (We are pack-rats, we admit it.  And the first step towards recovery is admitting you have a problem, right?)  I last wore this skirt when I was about 16.  I think it was "goth" at the time.  Oh, memories.

I've entered this picture into JustFab's "Show Us Your Style" Contest on Facebook.  Votes are accepted from May 24 - May 31 and you can vote once every day on those dates.  Please vote for me!  The winner gets a trip to NYC and I desperately need a vacation!
