Dots invited me to come check out one of my local stores in return for a gift card. The opinions below are all mine.
I've never been into a Dots before, but I had looked online ahead of time so I knew what to expect. The prices are in line with my budget, the clothes are similar to what I'd find at PayHalf, except their plus size section is much bigger and NOT tragic. The sales clerks were extremely helpful and polite, checking in on customers, getting things down, getting different sizes while you're in the dressing room, starting a room for you, etc. It's the kind of service you would expect in a high-end store, without the inflated prices.
Onto the dressing room!
Sizzle High Waisted Jeans, size 16, $26
Welp, I'm kind-of in love with these jeans. I want them in every color, but they only had black. I want them in white, denim, teal, and any more I can get my hands on. I've been looking for high-waisted jeans for some time now, and the buttons on the front make these perfection. They suck everything in and sort-of hide my tummy. I can't wait to wear these out. I will have to stop by Dots frequently to see if they get more in other colors. Unfortunately, I can't find these online.
Sweater with Zippers, size 1X, $20
This sweater is cute, zipped and unzipped, but I left it 'cause I already have a big, comfy, black sweater.
Faux Leather Moto Jacket with Studs, size L, $34 + 40% off outerwear
Cropped Top (from 2 piece set), size 1X, $28 for whole set
The top was too big, but pretty cute, especially with the jeans. The jacket is a great cropped length and is cut big. I was surprised the L fit, and it's actually a little big. I bought the jacket, but I might return it for a pair of shoes that are on my mind.
Striped Peplum Blazer, size L, $?
NOPE! This looked awful on me and awful on my shopping buddy.
Faux Leather Peplum Dress, size L, $22
Not cute. The peplum is not long enough, and the dress is way too tight.
Gray/Black Sheer Tank with Necklace, size L, $?
Acid Wash Jeans, size 16, $28
This top was uber cute on my shopping buddy, but not that great on me. Mostly because it's too tight. The jeans were too loose and not cute on me. I'm pretty sure my age prohibits me from looking good in acid wash jeans. That whole once you've worn it once thing.
Coral Sweater, size 1X, $?
This sweater is OK, but not for me. It doesn't do enough for my figure and I don't often do glitter thread.
Sheer Leopard Tunic, size 1X, $20
Army Green and Faux Leather Jeggings, size 1X, $?
I am not a big fan of leopard/animal print, but I actually liked this tunic. The jeggings were nice, as well, had a good rise (not as high rise as I would like, but definitely not low rise) and I liked the placement of faux leather. I didn't get either of these pieces, because of other items I thought I would get more use out of.
Oxblood Vest, size XL, $?
I don't like how boxy this vest is, and how big it is around the arm holes, so needless to say, I did not take this home with me. I typically have an issue with vests like this, so I'm not surprised.
High Waist Belted Shorts, size XL, $14
I don't like the belt on these shorts, but actually thought they were quite flattering and comfortable and would look cute with tights. I did not get them though, because there were other things I thought I could get more use out of.
Sheer Leopard Tunic, size 1X, $20 (tucked in front only)
High Waist Belted Shorts, size XL, $14
My friend made out like a bandit, got a bunch of cute black and grey shit (she only wears black and grey), this vest, and much more.
I also bought these booties and two necklaces that are not online. I tried on a very cute pair of wedge sneakers that I may go back for. I almost bought this cute black/white clutch/wallet. One side fit my phone perfectly, but leaves more room for money, lip stuff, etc. The perfect bag for a night out. There was a camo scarf with a neon border that I almost bought, as well.
My most favorite thing about Dots is this:
A good return policy is everything.
They also have punch cards (spend $100, get $10 off) that never expire, and they give you these "Fun Dots" with every purchase that you can use on your next purchase for 20% off one item. One Fun Dot per item. My ass loves a deal, more coupons, so I'm a fan.
So, what do you think of Dots? What do you think of my purchases? Anything you would have bought that I passed on?
