Try It On! @ JCP: Saturday, 8/31

I love when other bloggers post pics of their try-on sesh(es) - It helps to see clothes on a real person, instead of a model, to get an idea of fit, and also quality. So, I decided to join in the fun. (Plus, I already take the pics so I can remember how something looked on, in case I want to purchase it at a later date,  might as well post them.)

These are from my recent trip to JCP.

But first, I want to mention that I find myself trying on only items in the same color palette, in one trip. I don't know if this starts with the first piece I pull, or what, but this isn't the first time I've done it. This is the first dress I pulled, and then it was all black and white from here on out. Does anyone else do this?

Worthington Peplum Dress, $39.99 on sale, size 12

I only saw one of these, which is why it's not my size (14). I thought it was OK - the fabric is nice, it's comfortable, but I didn't think the peplum was big enough (for my liking), so I did not bring this home with me. I need to have the perfect peplum to justify more peplum in my closet. Looking at this picture, though, makes me want to go back for it. It would carry me through multiple seasons. Eh, we'll see.

Alyx Faux-Leather Peplum Dress, $49.99 on sale, size 14

Again, peplum is not big enough, which looks like it takes away from my curves, making my body look straight up and down. Also, the top of this dress does not fit right, which I find is an issue with most peplum tops. Needless to say, this stayed at the store.

Allen B. Studded Cut-out Dress, $49.99 on sale, size 14

I saw this on Rebekah, From the Mixed-up Files, but I wanted to try it for myself. The studded shoulders are so me! This style dress does not work on my body, so it was a no. Also, like Rebekah said, the cut-outs are awkward and pointless.

I <heart> Ronson Textured Dress, $34.99 on sale, size 16

NOPE! This  really does not work on my body type and even the 16 was tight. Size up on I <heart> Ronson stuff. You should really consider this a junior brand in sizing.

Allen B. Houndstooth Skinny Jeans, $27.99 on sale, size 14

I love these jeans. They have a little faux leather detailing along the pockets, they are a much higher rise than is the norm, and they are houndstooth! They remind me of plaid, punk pants, that I would always see at Hot Topic in the 90's/early 00's, but I never bought them because I couldn't figure out how to wear them. These definitely went home with me. I'm waiting for it to get cooler to wear them.

Allen B. Long-Sleeve Striped Blouse, $27.99 on sale, size XL

Same top in both pics, just wanted to show it with the shame-tuck (half-tuck), as well. I love this top, especially with the pants. I'm a little addicted to stripes and this is like stripe-crack to me. I actually purchased this top in a size L instead. It fits better in the arms, but gaps at my bust. I will just wear it low-cut on non-work days.

The L did not fit very well and they didn't have an XL, so I gave up on this one. It is very cute, though.

So, what do you think?

Do you want to see more dressing room posts?

Would you have chosen differently?
