Beauty Bank: Mascara

Up next, mascara.

I've used a few MAC mascaras over time: False Lashes, Zoom Lash, and Dazzle Lash.  False Lashes was too heavy.  After curling my eyelashes and applying, it weighed down my curl, and my eyelashes were straight again.  Zoom Lash was pretty good, as well as Dazzle Lash, but both transferred onto my under-eye area while walking through the cold (and this is Chicago, it's cold for half the year!).  To sum it up, I haven't been too impressed with any of MAC's mascara.  (Note: I've never tried MAC's waterproof mascaras, which may have solved my problem in the cold.)

Here's the deal with mascara - department store brands aren't much better than anything else.

I'm sure everyone has heard that the best drugstore mascara is Maybelline Great Lash, but I wanted to try something else out.  I've used Great Lash; it's a good standby product, but what else can I find?
Cheap Alternative - Drugstore Find:

Since CoverGirl wowed me with the first product, I decided to give them a go in the mascara department as well.  I picked up CoverGirl's Exact Eyelights Waterproof Mascara for Green Eyes.  I was a little unsure about what color I should get, my eyes are confused about what color they want to be; depending on what I'm wearing, they could be green, blue, gray or hazel.  CoverGirl's description: Get 4x brighter eyes,* rain or shine, with Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Mascara! Light-reflecting metallics and a hint of tint bring out your blues, browns, hazels, and greens, while our patented no-clump brush helps define lashes. *On average vs. bare lashes.  Honestly, I don't see how this mascara brings out the tint in my eyes (though that may have something to do with the color confusion), but aside from that, this mascara is another win for CoverGirl.  It isn't heavy, so my eyelashes stay curled after I've applied it.  A co-worker commented that my eyelashes were noticeably different, in a good way.  The applicator wand and brush is made of plastic, it feels a little flimsy, but I'm hoping it will hold up.  Cost: I paid $9.99 at Walgreens and once again found it cheaper elsewhere.  (Side-note: Don't shop for cosmetics at Walgreens.)  Target has it for $7.24, Ulta for $8.39.
