scarf - hand-me-down

One of my pet peeves is the incorrect/over-usage of the word "actually".


Here are some examples:

Q: "What do you do for a living?"
A: "Actually, I blah blah blah..."

No one insinuated that you did anything for a living than you actually do, so there is no need to start your sentence with the word, actually.

Q: "How much did you pay for that?"
A: "Actually, I paid $thismuchmoney."

Again, no insinuation to the contrary, so need to start your sentence this way.

What kind of misused/overused words or grammatical error type things get your goat? This is just one of many for me.
