Someone on Twitter recently asked me,
"why don't you show your face in your outfit pics? you're clearly a cutie and you rock hair/outfits"

I thought I would write a post to provide an answer, since it's kind of a long explanation and I've gotten asked this before.

So, first of all, thanks for the compliment!

Now, onto the explanation. When I first started my blog, I was a little nervous about taking my own picture and posting it on the internet. I tried a few different poses, looking at the camera, looking away, looking down, looking in the distance, sitting, standing, etc. Someone even suggested that I cut my head off. I don't like the look of a cut off head. Looks wrong to me. Anyway, I eventually settled on looking down for a few reasons. One is obviously the nervous thing. The second is the time of day I take my pictures. I'm usually rushing through them in the early morning, trying to get the dog walked and get out the door. Not a real happy time for me. So, a smile will not come naturally and an unnatural smile on me is really obviously unnatural. My face gets all smooshy and I look like a cabbage patch kid. With teeth.

Not. Cute.
The other option is to look at the camera and not smile, but that is no good either, because when I don't smile, I just look mad. I could look away, instead of down, but I get very subconcious about my profile and my chin. So, looking down it is! (Or was decided, as it were.)

I've also convinced myself that with my boring poses, and my downward gaze, you (the reader) is able to focus only on my outfits. I feel it makes me a sort-of blank slate.

So, there. That is the reasoning behind my poses and facial expression. You probably didn't think there was this much thought put into it, did you? Yeah, I like to make things real complicated.

Anywho, I love questions, so please ask me more! Here, Twitter, Facebook, email, wherever you choose!
