black tiered skirt (nicole by Nicole Miller, JCP)

maroon lace-up booties (Vince Camuto (used), Clothes Mentor, $30)
stretch belt (a.n.a., JCP)

Let's talk about cheap clothes and keeping items for long periods of time (even when they aren't in use).  People like to say that cheap clothes aren't worth it in the long run, because they will fall apart in a short period of time, because they're not made well, blah blah blah.  The other thing that people say is that if you haven't worn something in a year, get rid of it.

I purchased this skirt anywhere from 5 to 7 years ago.  It's from JCP, so it was probably around $20-$40.  What some would consider "cheap."  There's nothing wrong with it currently - it's not falling apart, it's still black (not faded), and I would say it's pretty old and get's a good amount of use.

When I purchased this skirt, I didn't know how to style it.  It probably sat in my closet unworn for 6 months or so, after which it was worn once or twice and sat in my closet for another year or two... or three.  Now I wear it often.  Because I know how to style it.  I have a few items that have the same story.

So, there, all you "People"!
