I've had my eye on MAC's "Modesty" lipstick for awhile - a muted neutral pink. I wanted a pinkish color that was similar to my natural lip color, just oomphed up a bit.
Cost of MAC lipstick: $14.50.
I think I did a fine job finding a Cheaper Alternative: Drugstore Discovery:
I paid $7.99 at Walgreens, WalMart has it for $4.97 (although they don't appear to have this color in stock online) and Ulta for $7.49.
While the color is not dead-on and it has more sparkle, I think this is a good alternative for almost half the price, or less.
I paid $9.49 at Walgreens, Ulta has it for $6.99 (thought not in this shade online) and CVS for $8.99.
Again, the color isn't dead-on, it's slightly a better value, but not by much. I would go with Maybelline on this one, if not for anything but the price.
What do you think? Was this a beauty bank or blunder?
