Events: Beehive in Bloom, 5/9/15

You may remember the vintage fashion show I got to attend last year...

Well, This year Beehive Chicago invited me to be a "Guest Stylist", which meant styling a look with their vintage offerings and walking in the show, "Beehive in Bloom: A Vintage Fashion Show". This year was even better than last. The fashion show was held in a private party venue in the same building. I'd seen the space before, and was in awe, but was even more amazed when I saw the runway set-up with all the audience chairs. (I got a sneak peak via Instagram before I had even arrived.)

When I arrived, the rooms were bustling with last minute preparations, vendor set-up, model hair and makeup, and pre-runway photographs. There were treats by Paper Moon Bakery. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to try one. I didn't have the opportunity to take many pictures, either, but I did catch this candid moment. I added some effects to the photo, and I quite like the outcome.

After I got my outfit on and accessorized appropriately, I was sent in the other room for "official photographs". Here's the one they chose out of the set.

I really liked my outfit (and a lot of others did, as well). I thought seriously about taking the dress-turned-jacket home with me but I was super broke and didn't think I'd wear it enough, so I left it for someone who could wear it as a dress. It was silk and had a great flow to it. I paired it with a cream, boucle dress from the 70s. It had great stretch. I cinched it all together with a simple, brown, skinny belt. I wore platform sandals to bring in that 70s vibe again and finished it off with big sunglasses and a tapestry bag.

Here's a test pic my BF took.
The BF took these pics of me on the runway.
What do you think? Am I ready for ANTM?
The Beehive is available by appointment throughout the week and open on Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM. They are at 2950 W. Carroll Ave. in Chicago.
